Explanation of specimen papers

The specimen papers are much smaller than would normally be used in a knowledge check as each paper only comprises 5 questions but they show the principles of our system.

There are two intakes, A and B, and each has 3 candidates.

Theft for intake A - 2006 on 3-08-2006.

Page 1. The cover page provides the details for the Knowledge Check - the subject, intake and date and the footer on the questions page replicates this information.

Pages 2 and 3.  The multiple-choice questions.  These are designed for one copy to be printed out and photocopied for all the candidates

Page 4. Master answer sheet.  This is designed for one copy to be printed out and photocopied for all the candidates.

Page 6.  Marking template.  This is designed to be printed onto acetate (either print directly onto acetate if your printer has such a capability or print onto paper and photocopy onto acetate).  The indicated panel is then removed from the acetate to allow a tick or cross to be written adjacent to each answer when each answer sheet is marked.

Page 8.  Full explanation of the answer to each question for use by the trainer.

Page 10. Brief answer to each question for the candidates to provide direction for further study.  If Advance Training are not providing personal feedback (see below) then this sheet can be photocopied for all candidates.

Theft for intake B - 2006 on 17-08-2006.

The structure of this document is the same as the one for intake A.  Although 3 of the 5 questions are the same they are not the same question number as in the first knowledge check and neither are their options in the same sequence.

Marking and candidate feedback

We are able to offer a number of alternatives for marking the knowledge checks and providing candidate feedback.

The simplest option is for us to provide the PDF file, it is marked by your trainers and the feedback sheet photocopied for the candidates.  However this may result in increased contamination in later Knowledge Checks.

The second option is that the Knowledge Checks are marked by your trainers so the results can be given expeditiously to the candidates.  The answer sheets are then faxed through to Advance Training and we will enter the results onto our system and provide personalised feedback as a PDF file.

The third option is for all the answer papers to be faxed through to Advance Training, we will mark them and provide personalised candidate feedback as a PDF file.

If you use the second or third options then the PDF will also include information on each question and how many people answered it correctly.
