IPLDP - what is it?

IPLDP is the Initial Police Learning and Development Program through which student police officers in England and Wales are trained in the role of Constable. The IPLDP has been developed by the National Police Improvement Authority - the NPIA.

The IPLDP syllabus has core subjects which should be taught to all student police officers and then some advanced subjects which each force has discretion to teach to their officers if the legislation covered is relevant to their policing context. Multiple-choice formative assessment is used throughout the IPLDP to provide feedback to the student officer and help them in their own development.
